Band Workshop Policies

Here are the general policies of our Total Band Experience workshops.
  • Billing
    • Tuition: $240 per student
    • Course fees must be paid in full, at or before the first meeting of the workshop.
    • There is no "pro-rating" based on which classes students may potentially miss.
    • Cash or Check are the only accepted forms of payment at this time.
  • Attendance
    • There are 8 classes per block; attendance is required for each class
    • Classes can not be made up or rescheduled. Any missed classes are lost, with no refunds or credit of tuition fees.
    • Workshop classes will begin and end promptly at the designated times. However, if the workshop director is running late, a full session will always take place.
  • Registration and Placement
      • Group Registration - Whether you have a full band, or just 2 musicians, group registration is the quickest way to get started in a NYSoR student band. The more members you sign up with, the sooner you'll be able to start. Whenever possible, friends and relatives will be grouped together, as long as they are of comparable age and performance level.
      • Individual Registration - Many of our registrants are individuals looking to join or form a student band. Individual registrants are placed on a list of "free agents". If a slot for their instrument opens up in one of our existing bands (of similar age and level), they will be given the opportunity to join. Also, if there are enough compatible free agents, a new band will be formed. Please understand it may take time to find an opening for individual musicians, as we have to match their age and level, as well as their instrument. Your help in recruiting is always appreciated, as it assists us forming complete bands more quickly.
  • Late Registration
    • Additional members may be added to supplement a band within the first 2 or 3 sessions of a band workshop.
